Acupuncture

Acupuncture can help everybody, there is no age limit; even young children may be treated with use of acupressure (stimulation of Acupuncture points without needles). Acupuncture can be very supportive during pregnancy therefore it is important to inform your practitioner if you are or could be pregnant.

Patients can feel assured that their safety is always put first. All Unity Clinic practitioners are registered with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) which guarantees that extensive training has been undertaken for a minimum of three years, and members are bound by their code of ethics with regard to professional safe practice.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of healing within Chinese Medicine, practiced in the East for thousands of years. It aims to treat the whole person by working with life-energy Qi (chee) to correct ill health and maintain natural equilibrium within.

According to the Ancient Chinese, the human body is connected by 12 main and 8 secondary pathways, called meridians. These meridians conduct energy, or Qi, between the surface of the body and the internal organs. Qi regulates spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health, and is influenced by the opposing forces of Yin and Yang. When Yin and Yang are balanced and working together there is a natural flow of Qi bringing harmony to the whole being.

Fine needles are inserted into selected points along the body which activates its own healing process, dispersing blockages or accessing reservoirs to replenish exhausted energy, helping to treat and prevent disease. NB: Unity Clinic only uses single use disposable needles. Anyone treated by a member of the BAcC will still be eligible to donate blood through the National Blood Service and a certificate can be provided.

  • Chinese traditional medicine Burgess Hill

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is one of the most sophisticated herbal medicine systems in the world. Although CHM is relatively unknown in the West, compared to acupuncture, it is, in fact, regarded as the main part of the Chinese medicine and practised extensively in clinics and hospitals throughout China and Korea, alongside Western medicine.

Like acupuncture, CHM assesses and treats each person as a unique individual rather than being based entirely on a disease or its symptoms. Healing with CHM is based on the restoration of harmony and balance within the body.

  • Osteopathy burgess hill

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine. It focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculo-skeletal framework which includes the joints, muscles and the spine. Osteopathy also positively affects the the body’s nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems which supports the musculo-skeletal framework.

Osteopathy is often more successful at treating muscular skeletal disorders than traditional approaches. If you have pain that other areas have been unsuccessful at relieving, a trip to us would be beneficial. Osteopaths do not simply concentrate on treating the problem area, but use manual techniques to balance the all the systems of the body, to provide overall good health and well-being.

Treatment involves various manual therapy techniques such as a soft tissue massage, stretching, articulation and manipulation. We also use more specialist techniques such as cranial osteopathy and the classical osteopathic approach to treatment.
